Controlling the Uncontrollable

I did art for a while and then stopped. Coming to PRC is what rekindled my passion for art. It’s a sense of community.

My art has changed a lot over the years, it’s become a looser and more colorful and more modernized. I think our teacher here has been helping me change my art style, by freeing me from traditional coloring. Art is about adapting and learning new ways and improving every time you create. It’s being able to create and express yourself with the universal communicator, art.

It’s also important to remember that you are your own worst critic. I thought my first painting was so bad a child could have done better! I kept it, so I can look back and realize that I’m always improving. It just takes time and patience. And an understanding community around you.

That’s something I think PRC has created that with their art program. You can interact with artists at every level and learn from each other. You can help each other and trade ideas. People are nice, it’s a friendly atmosphere. It’s everything you would want in an art studio.

My favorite styles of paintings are watercolors because watercolor paintings are like trying to control the uncontrollable, but in a way it means that every piece is it’s own masterpiece. Everything is something no one had ever created before.

Art changes. Art can constantly be improved. Art helps you appreciate the world around you.

Art makes the world a better, more beautiful place.
